A Little Goes a Long Way

The "little" you're able to do is way better than the nothing you DON'T do because of frustration, shame or guilt.

This is a constant struggle with us chronic illness warriors. We think the little doesn't matter.

Oh but sister, it does!

Don't believe the lie that a "little" won't do anything.

That "little" can and will get you to your "lot".

But continuing to think it won't, will definitely, 100%, always won't do anything.

Drop a 💪 in the comments if you are committing to doing your "little" today!

What If It Were Your Last Years?

With all the #Faceapp and geriatric posts circulating this past week, I thought it would be fitting for us to have a reflection check.

Is the way you've been spending your life this past year, the way you want to be spending it if you were last years?

what-if-it-were-your-last-years.jpg

If there's a little more of struggles, frustration, wishing, hopelessness, exhaustion, and just not caring about life...maybe because of a chronic condition, maybe because of depression and anxiety, maybe because of traumatic memories from your past, or maybe because you just don't think you aren't worthy enough to have a joyful life...

Sister, can I encourage you tonight?

If you don't care about life or think it has just plain sucked for you up until this point, so you don't even look forward to tomorrow...that CAN change.

If how you've been spending this year isn't how you want to end the year, that CAN change.

Start with one step.

We don't get from A to Z in one arrow like Amazon.

Start with imagining a different life CAN be possible for you.

Start with even WANTING a different life. (Since you may have gotten SO used to not caring, you may not even know what that looks and feels like.)

Start wherever you are.

Just START. Your future self will thank you.

And if you struggle with where or how to start, I can be your guide. I am living proof that you CAN have all of the above circumstances and still LIVE. Let's hit that start button together, and schedule your free mini session today!

10 Years Since My Brain Surgery

Today marks 10 years since I had my brainsurgery for my chiari malformation.

It's been a journey, and there are MANY things I have learned since 2009. But the few things I want to share today that I've really embraced over the years is that 1) the healing process is not as linear as I expected it to be, and that's ok. I'm always going to be exposed to new things- food, environments, tasks, etc. and as I get older and my body changes, I know that how my Chiari and other conditions show up can change too. I don't fight it anymore.

But friends, you know what?!

I GOT TO go to some parties...I GOT TO coach some amazing women this week, and not only did I get to sing and lead worship today, but I actually GOT TO belt the song I led at the last service, where before, singing just one song would flare me up, and I am also not a natural belter!

Yes, I couldn't do as much. Yes, I have been in more pain after church and resting all day today. But I got to LIVE.

If you are struggling with chronic conditions and you may not be here yet, that's ok.

Acknowledging how you feel is IMPORTANT. The work I did and the work I share with my clients is not about wishful thinking or just thinking happy and positive thoughts...no.

It's about honoring your thoughts.

Honoring your emotions.

Honoring your desires.

Honoring your symptoms.

Honoring your dreams and goals.

And seeing the connections of it all and being more aware and intentional of what to do about them.

The more you do this, the more you will get to LIVE despite whatever chronic condition you experience...and sister, it is worth doing the work to feel alive!
