No One Can Make You Feel A Certain Way

With the #shelterinplace , many couples are facing the reality of being around each other more often AND the opportunity to strengthen their relationship.⠀

Some of you love all this time together, which is great.⠀

For others, it may bring out more frustration, bitterness and anger. ⠀

I want to free you with this truth:⠀

𝐍𝐎 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐅𝐄𝐄𝐋 𝐀 𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐀𝐘.⠀

𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳.⠀

You may be saying, “Phoebe, I thought you said it was a freeing truth?!”⠀

Friend, IT IS!⠀

This means if you’re tired of feeling all those things, you don’t have to be feeling them anymore 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚.⠀

And it won’t be dependent on what your partner does or doesn’t do. ⠀

SEE! FREEING!!! Because the truth is, we can’t control our partners or anyone else for that matter! (Wouldn’t it be easier if we could?!) ⠀

These thoughts are things YOU can take captive and give them to God to help you change them.⠀

We have plenty of months ahead of us, so don’t rush into this with unrealistic expectations for yourself or your partner.⠀

Just being aware of your own thoughts and taking them captive in each situation everyday is a good start, then remind yourself you’re feeling a certain way (frustrated, angry, hurt, impatient, bitter, etc.) BECAUSE of those thoughts (NOT because of your partner), 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒐𝒌𝒂𝒚.⠀

No judgment for you. No judgment for your partner. You’re just noticing and observing for now. ⠀

When you’re ready for the next thing, you can ask God for what He wants you to do next. ⠀
