17 more days to go!

Hubby and I are on day 4 of our whole foods cleanse and lunch was a veggie roll (rolled by my sister @ghiapearl , thank you seeester!) and salad with all kinds of stuff.

I ate modestly healthy last year...sometimes 50/50, sometimes 70/30, and other times 30/70 if I’m being honest.

The beginning of last year, my main focus was STAYING ALIVE since some of you know my physical and mental health crashed, and with my depression and anxiety, I found myself struggling with suicide again.

So yes, I did eat the treats, even though I knew it would negatively impact my conditions, including my depression.

But the temporary comfort got me by.

And I needed to save my mental capacity to soak in what I was hearing from my intensive treatment program, faith support and family, etc.

I didn’t use it for meal prepping and following plans.

And as you know when you get used to things, habits form and that carried over even after I was in a better place. (Although there were still some things I wanted to prioritize first.)

This year, we knew it was time to make eating healthier and being more intentional with our treats a must again.

Hubby and I were ready and my body was obviously negatively reacting to the accumulation of it all.

So know that however your journey looks with health and food, know that this moment, if you want to, you can make a decision to change things up.

Even with being in pain, I feel healthier already!

Go Back to Basics

basics.jpeg

When symptoms are flaring up more, go back to the basics.

How's your:

▪️Water intake
▪️Food you're eating
▪️Reading/Being still
▪️Stress management
▪️Journaling/Taking thoughts captive
▪️Sleep
▪️Rest/Schedule
▪️Movement/Exercise
▪️Supplement

Once you know you are ok with basics, then you can move on to more things such as seeing specialists, recognizing and honoring your triggers, and diving deeper into your thoughts around your flare-ups.

Biggest thing you can do above all these things, is to seek God, even when He seems silent. 👆🏼🙏🏼

He goes behind you and before you through your #chronicillnessjourney. He is your ultimate comforter and healer that will guide you through what your next steps will be. 👣

Share which of the above you want to put as a priority again. ⬇️

Heart’s been so heavy this past week

Heart’s been so heavy this past week.

So much pain.

So much loss.

No inspiration for this post, but more of reminder that it’s okay to grieve.

It’s okay to grieve, and then feel somewhat of the opposite from other things happening in your life; it does not minimize who you are grieving over.

It’s okay to give yourself the space to not do anything else.

It’s okay to only be sad and not anything else right now.

There is no cookie -cutter way of handling it.

It is all part of what makes us human.

Sending lots of love and prayers to all those needing comfort, peace and hope during their time of grief and loss.
